I don't typically post about equipment that we purchase because, let's face it, only geeks like me even care. I always get a kick out of couples that ask me how many CCDs my cameras have. I always ask, "Do you really want to know, or are you asking because that is in the 'list of questions you should ask your videographer'?" (By the way, the answer is 3.)
But today I had to share with you some news and a couple photos.

One of the biggest frustrations I have as a videographer is in dealing with lighting during a shoot... but I have an idea.
Here is something that I don't understand. How much time have you put into the decor and "look" of your reception? You worry about the color and placement of the table linens, the chair covers, the flowers, the gifts, the candles. Every bow is perfect. Every color the same hue. Every menu in its place. And right before the guests arrive, the lights are shut almost completely off. Umm... what?

We have two big announcements to share with you. 2008 is going to be a great year for us and for you.
First of all, yesterday we updated our site with our new packages. Over the years we have changed our packages to reflect what we thought you were looking for. This time I really think we have hit the nail on the head with the Bride's Favorite package. It comes with 10 hours and 4 locations, a perfect amount to not only cover the wedding day but to capture all the best moments of your big day. Of course that includes both Susy and I shooting for those 10 hours.

One of the reason we, as a company, have been reluctant to make the switch to shooting in HD is because of the war that was raging between the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray high definition DVD formats. Now unless you are a real tech nerd (like me!) or you are going to be married to one, you may not have even known that this war was happening. The only immediate impact it had was to take up a little more shelf space in the DVD section at Target.

As we prepare to move to a High Definition workflow, there are many challenges. We will discuss the formats, the cameras, the details, and the solutions. In part 2, we are going to talk briefly about the HDV prosumer cameras and whether they are ready for weddings (and more importantly receptions).
