Mark & Amy's Same Day Edit
When I met with Amy and her mom a few months ago, I shared the idea of the Same Day Edit with them. Amy was already planning on having us produce her photo montage and we all agreed that transitioning into the Same Day Edit would be a great way to surprise everyone. Amy knew it was going to be tough to keep it a secret from Mark and her friends but she did, and it was a big surprise to everyone.
A lot of the surprise was in the fact that we edited the video so quickly. Being a Friday evening wedding, Mark & Amy's ceremony started at 6pm. The photo montage and Same Day Edit were to be shown at 8:45. Talk about 'under the gun'. We enlisted the help of our good friend Nick to capture and edit while Susy and I filmed. It was still a tight schedule. As soon as the DVD came out of the laptop, I handed it off and it went straight into the DVD player and onto the screen. (We took out most of the photo montage in the video clip below.)

Even with the stress of the time crunch, it turned out great and the reaction was overwhelming. I was near an older couple, probably in their 80's. The gentleman leaned over toward the end of the Same Day Edit and said in a not too quiet voice, "That was the wedding today! How did they do that?" I just smiled.
It was also great to see Derek & Heather. We had filmed their wedding last year. Derek said to me at the reception, "I really didn't know what to expect from a wedding video. But what you did for us blew me away." After the Same Day Edit, Heather's mother, Kim, said to Derek & Heather, "You guys need to have another wedding so we can get one of THOSE videos. That was great."
