Patrick & Elizabeth's Rainy Day Edit

Patrick and Elizabeth didn't let a little rain dampen their spirits even though their outdoor wedding had to be moved indoors at the last minute. Thankfully Lake Front Country Club had a beautiful room for the ceremony to take place. The weather cooperated earlier in the day to get a few photos outside. After waiting 13 years (how long they have been dating), Elizabeth was not going to let a little rain (or 2 inches of rain) ruin her day.

Style Me Pretty Inspirational Shoot

Genevieve Nisly recently approached me with an idea of making a "behind-the-scenes" video for an upcoming inspirational shoot that her and Valarie Kirkbride were teaming up for. Style Me Pretty is a huge blog that is dedicated to inspiring brides to make their wedding something special and unique. This is accomplished is many ways. One way is through their Inspiration Boards. Genevieve and Valarie chose a board that they liked, gathered various wedding professionals (for a list see Genevieve's blog), and made the inspiration a reality. It was an honor for me to be asked to participate with a group so distinguished.

Here is the post about the inspiration board and the post about the shoot with many of the awesome images that Genevieve captured.

Finally the video that I put together with some behind the scenes footage and my interpretation of the day.

Brian & Emilie's Same Day Edit

"I just want my Same Day Edit to be as beautiful as my sister Anecia's" Emily told me on Friday. When you have a wonderful couple, a lovely day, and a personalized wedding it's going to be a beautiful video.

Emilie and Brian are both school teachers (as were many of their bridal party members) and they did a great job making their wedding unique and personal. From the chalkboard table markers, to the school bus limo, Emily expertly incorporated their shared profession into many of the details of the wedding day. I'll be sure to post some of their final video so you can see these unique details!

Max & Tiffany's Same Day Edit

Tiffany knew she wanted a Same Day Edit before she was even engaged and I'm sure she had great expectations for what it would be like. One of the most important elements of a good video is having a couple that's in love and willing to show that emotion. You could tell Max and Tiffany were in love by the little looks and glances they were giving each other throughout the day, which made our job easy.

Michael & Allison's Same Day Edit

Allison knew exactly what how she wanted her Same Day Edit... and it was "absolutely perfect".

The photo montage is very common at wedding receptions. We set a limit of 100 photos for our photo montages and use typically 3 songs. This usually ends up being about 6-7 minutes long which is the perfect length. I always like showing a photo montage before a Same Day Edit and tying the two together. It is great to use a few stills from the day before the video begins because it really builds the excitement. Last night there were audible gasps.

Michael and Allison did a wonderful job picking out photos. Obviously they have some good photographers in the family.

Allison gave Michael an iPad as a gift. A groomsman later told her, "I am surprised you didn't hear him squealing. He was so excited." In light of that, I thought I would post a copy of their video formatted for iPad as well. So Mike, Right-click and save as.. Michael & Allison SDE - iPad Version. Check out his reaction.

Malone Promo for Alive Music Festival

We have developed a great relationship with Malone University. If you have been following the blog for a while you will have seen some of the other projects we have done for them.

There is a big challenge in working with the same client repeatedly... We want every video to look and feel completely different. While this may seem like a negative challenge it is actually a huge positive. This single challenge pushes us creatively and forces us to try new concepts and ideas. Lighting, interview style, and editing all come under the magnifying glass. There is usually a fair amount of head scratching but the end result always exceeds the clients expectations... and that makes us smile.

The Alive Music Festival is a like a Christian WoodStock. Malone is one of the main sponsors of the event. They were going to be speaking from the main stage two nights and wanted a short video to capture the attention of the huge crowd. What better topic to cover than a band from Malone talking about Malone. A Minor Bird was more than happy to spend an evening filming with us and from what I am told they become instant stars at the festival.

A huge thanks to Jamie Jansen for all his help with lighting and with the fog machine. Yes... Jamie owns a fog machine. (We love you Jamie!!)

Sean & Keri's Same Day Edit

High school sweethearts. Dating for 10 years. An awesome group friends. Great families (and a father of the bride who makes his own wine). Sean and Keri are truly blessed.

You can tell a lot about a couple's "story" by being behind the camera on a wedding day. You start to get the inside jokes. You notice the little glances. You hear Sean tell his beautiful bride, "You look so beautiful, you look perfect" over and over. All of the pieces of the couple's puzzle fall together, and that is the story we capture through our work.

The highest compliment I can receive is when the mother of the bride says, "It completely exceeded my expectations". Of course that could mean one of two things. Either we did a great job on the Same Day Edit or expectations for videography are still (as a rule) low. The answer is probably a little of both. You be the judge.

Kyle & Samantha's Same Day Edit

We have a phrase in Ohio that we use jokingly, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change." Yesterday that phrase could be taken literally. Despite the crazy weather and sustained cold winds, Kyle & Samantha braved the outdoors for some awesome photos by our good friends Ted & Rachel Linczak who took full advantage of downtown Canton and areas around the church.

Kyle & Samantha had asked us to include a couple shots of the cake cutting in the SDE since there was a big crowd and it may have been difficult for some to see. I completed the SDE only to realize I hadn't included the shots of the cake cutting. So I quickly re-edit the final portion of the video inserting some of the best shots that Susy and I captured. I saved the first version though and that is what is posted below. Let's call it "The Director's Cut"!

Rami & Mona's Wedding at the Rennaissance in Cleveland

When Rami & Mona told us they weren't having a ceremony we wondered how long their final would be (that's one of the main questions we get from brides). We met up with them and Ted and Rachel from Linczak Photography on a chilly December day in downtown Cleveland. We spent a few hours that afternoon at a some interesting spaces downtown and captured some spectacular footage, mostly because Rami & Mona's chemistry overshadowed all the wonderful places we went. Then we were off to the Rennaissance to warm up with some dancing at their reception. Palestinian receptions are so lively and interesting, all the special dances made for some very great footage. The lighting was perfect and it made their footage beautiful (you know how much our HD cameras love good lighting). I won't bore you with any more writing, here's Rami & Mona's recap.

Since Rami & Mona didn't have a ceremony on their wedding day, we edited their video a little differently than normal, using less of a linear style. It was a great break from the usual in my editing schedule allowing me to be a little more creative with the timeline. Here's their entire video if you'd like to see it.

Father Daughter Dance with a Twist

We attend more weddings than most people, unless you're a wedding professional as well. We get used to the structure of most days, bridal prep, ceremony, photos, toasts, first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, etc. We love it when our brides do something to make those events more personalized, like Megan did.

When Megan came out onto the dance floor to dance with her dad, she surprised everyone. She was wearing her mom's wedding dress. It was one of the most moving father/daughter dances we've seen.
