I have a policy of not talking bad about other wedding professionals but I thought I should let people know the truth in this case. Although they were really cute, I would not hire this photography team. They were such divas. Just kept taking pictures of each other. They also continually shot up people's noses. Very unprofessional! Be warned!
Successful Soiree!

We had posted a few weeks ago about the Ohio Bridal Soiree and I just wanted to follow up. This event was awesome! I got to hang out with some of my favorite wedding professionals, some current clients, and potential clients. I also spoke a a session about "The Value of Videography" where I debuted Mike & Molly talking about 2nd Mile.
Tricia Dever and Genevieve Nisly did an amazing job of organizing and pulling off an wonderful event. Check out some more photos on Genevieve's blog.
I am already looking forward to the next year.
Vows To Live By - Mike & Kevin

As we start to wind down from the 2009 wedding season and archive the many events that we were a part of, we are going post some highlights from this past year. We start off with some of the best vows we have ever heard.
One of the things Susy and I love about our job is being able to experience many different cultures and beliefs. In 2009 we filmed our first commitment ceremony. The whole day was pretty amazing. Everything from the decor to the party were perfectly planned. But Mike and Kevin really outdid themselves when it came to their vows.

Writing your own vows is a great way to bring another personal touch into your wedding but only if you want to spend the time to do so. There is great article on about.com about writing your own vows. They suggest you answer these questions.
- What is the single greatest thing about the person you are going to marry?
- When did you know that you were in love/ know that this person was the one you wanted to marry?
- What does marriage mean to you? Why do you want to be a married person?
- What will change about your relationship once you are married? What will stay the same?
- What is your most favorite memory of your partner?
- When you were little, did you dream of your wedding day or your future spouse? How does that vision match up (or not) with your sweetheart?
The main thing is to be sure your partner is on board with the idea. We have seen a few occasions where the bride has had pages and pages of notes while the groom's vows are the equivalent of "I think you are really neat." It was still sweet but if both of you are not totally committed to the idea it may be better to stick to the traditional "I Do's".
Mike & Molly talk about 2nd Mile

We filmed Mike & Molly's wedding in May 2008. They loved their video! They have referred a lot of clients to us, most recently Jason & Liz.
I am the type of person that does not want to be "sold at". When I walk on the car lot, I hate to see the salesman walking towards me with a big grin. At the store I answer, "No thanks! Just looking" before the sales person can ask. This is because I worked retail all through college. So when it comes to talking up our company and our services, I don't want to be "that guy". I never make a "hard sell" during a meeting. The thought of it makes me ill.
But this does pose a problem. Namely, I feel that a well produced video of your big day is one of the most important things you can have. As time goes by memories fade and the video will remind you. You won't remember the exactly words of the vows but the video will capture them. That day will never happen again, but it will be preserved forever on your video. So the question becomes.... How do I convey the importance of our services without sounding like I am making a "hard sell"? The answer.... I let my clients tell their story.
This is the first in what I hope will be a series of videos like this. In fact, I only used about a fourth of the footage from Mike and Molly's interview. I could probably make two or three more video of just them.

Jason & Liz's Same Day Edit

Even though Jason & Liz were married in 2010 we considered it part of our 2009 season since we now have some time off. What better way to end the season than with a great couple and some of our favorite wedding professionals.
