Friday’s Favorites - Documentaries
Documentaries. Some people hate them… we happen to love them.
I am not sure if it is because our style of videography borders on documentary or what the reason but Susy and I love a good documentary. Half of the time we end up commenting on the great camera angles and interesting shots. The best documentaries tell a complete story and draw you in. You feel invested in what is being explored. You may even shed some tears as the story unfolds.
If you have a Netflix account, queue up a few of our favorites:
Murderball - This is an amazing documentary about rugby-playing quadriplegics. Not only is the story told perfectly but the main characters are explored in depth. You feel like you are friends with these guys by the end. This is a must see!
King Corn - Susy and I like to eat healthfully. We really keep a close eye on what we are putting into our bodies. King Corn explores that fact that 40% of what the average American consumes is corn-based. We loved the segments with the Fisher-Price Little People Farm. It reminded us of a series of videos that we produced a couple of years ago.
Maxed Out - Maxed out discusses the financial crisis that America as a whole is facing due in large part to credit card debt.
The King Of Kong - This is a fun one that took me back to my childhood. King of Kong focuses on people that try to achieve a world record in the arcade game Donkey Kong. Now while that may sound silly, you would not believe the drama and dedication that surrounds this “world-class sport”.
