Everyone always asks, "Where does '2nd Mile' come from?"
Before starting 2nd Mile Productions I was a youth pastor. One of the things I always taught the people that I worked with was that we are to be servants. Matthew 5:41 says, "If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." I always liked that concept of going the extra mile. That is what we try to do in our lives and in our business.
The second question people ask is "How did you get started in videography?" It all started when I saw a strange plug on the side of a video camera I bought for the youth ministry. I soon came to find out that you could plug it into a computer and edit the video you captured. When Susy was going to be in a wedding and the couple was not getting a videographer, I volunteered. The rest, as they say, is history. They referred me another couple, who referred me, and so on... I found that I had a gift for telling the story of a wedding day in an interesting and engaging way. I really enjoy making a piece of history that a family will enjoy for not only years but generations to come.
In 2003, with the complete support of Susy, I decided that I wanted to make videography my full-time occupation. It has been overwhelmingly successful from the start. In 2006 we captured and edited 33 weddings.
In 2007 we added the Same Day Edit to our videography services. It was a huge success. Being able to show a portion of the video at the reception that was captured hours before amazed the crowd and made the tears flow.
2008 was another ground breaking year as we switched our whole workflow to high definition. This not only provided even more stunning images but it also allowed us to "future-proof" our videos for years to come.
This year we are planning on streamlining our workflow by using Direct-To-Edit devices that will allow us to have more time to tweak Same Day Edits and bring our turn around times for delivered videos down. We are also going to focus more on audio. Last year we purchased several new microphones which brought our productions to a whole new level. This year we are going to focus on acquiring even more sources of audio to add further depth to our productions.
We strive to stay up with the latest trends in videography by studying the best videographers in the world. These are among the many reasons we have risen to the top of our field in the North East Ohio area.
